Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio
Celebrates Navy Week

Navy provides fun and engaging content for youth to participate in Navy Week

Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio (April 22, 2021) –Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio is partnering with T-Mobile and Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union (RBFCU) to host Navy Week at the Clubs. To help Americans stay connected to their Navy while staying safe at home, the Navy Office of Community Outreach (NAVCO) will bring a virtual Navy Week to Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio, Texas the week of April 19-25.

Navy Weeks are a series of outreach events coordinated by the Navy Office of Community Outreach designed to give Americans an opportunity to learn about their Navy, its people and its importance to national security and prosperity. Since 2005, the Navy Week program has served as the Navy’s flagship outreach effort into areas of the country without a significant Navy presence, providing the public a firsthand look at the Navy the nation needs.

San Antonio is the second Navy Week in 2021. By going virtual, the Navy is able to work with its great network of Navy partners to provide opportunities to interact with the Navy in live-streamed events, interviews and videos. Events at the Clubs include a Fitness Challenge, STEM Parachute Demo, Live Navy Band Performances, and an exploration of Naval Research techniques.

To show their continued support in preparing today’s youth for great futures, T-Mobile’s national campaign, “Project 10 Million” aims to provide free internet to 10 million families. Their goal is to provide every active and inactive Club family with a hotspot. “We believe access to education is access to opportunity which is why we’re working to connect every student with free internet access.” said Andrew Wiess, Sr. Regional Marketing Manager. Thanks to T-Mobile, RBFCU and Target ‘s commitment to improving the lives of children throughout the local community by investing in this opportunity to explore careers in the Navy.

“We haven’t been able to have in person events for our Club kids since COVID-19 began so we are so excited to bring Navy Week virtually, thanks to the support of T-Mobile and RBFCU. It’s really amazing to see these incredible events come together for our kids. They can’t wait” said Clara Guerrero, Corporate Partnerships Manager.

“RBFCU was founded on the values of ‘people helping people,’ and we’re happy to continue that tradition in the community with partners T-Mobile and the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio,” said Sal Guerrero, AVP of Communications and Public Relations. “RBFCU is dedicated to the importance of education, and our hope is Navy Week will inspire the children towards bright futures.”
