$100K IMPACT GRANT AWARDED

Boys & Girls Clubs Receives $100,000 Award For Big Impact

Organization is one of three winners of Impact San Antonio grants this year

San Antonio, TX (November 5, 2014) – Impact San Antonio will present the Boys & Girls Clubs members and parents with a check for $100,000 and hopes to make a big impact on the city’s west side.  Boys & Girls Clubs was one of three organizations to receive this grant from the “giving circle” comprised of individual women who each contribute $1,000 and combine 100% of those donations into a substantial gift each year.

“Boys & Girls Clubs was honored to share our story with the women of Impact San Antonio and are ecstatic about this award, but it’s our teens who are the most excited. Impact is helping us serve them and their families better by allowing us to relocate our Teen Center to the Calderón Campus so we can serve Westside youth 6 to 18 years old all in one place.” – Angie Mock, CEO

The funding will be used to move the Teen Center from a debilitated leased space to a new building on the campus of the Calderón Branch. The funding will be used to construct a building specifically designed and equipped for teens and allow teens daily access to Calderón’s gym, pool, and outdoor courts.  Through this move, Boys & Girls Clubs hopes to bring in more teens into the Club for safe, positive programs with proven results. Last year, 100% of its senior members graduated on time and went to college.

On Wednesday, October 29, was Impact San Antonio’s annual “Grant Award Night” where after hearing presentations from five finalists, the 335+ members of the all-women organization voted to award a $100,000 grant each to three worthy 501(c)(3) agencies from the San Antonio area.

Impact San Antonio has now awarded $1,398,000 to non-profit organizations since its founding in 2004.
