Lorenzo Gomez, III, someone who understands what growing up in a tough neighborhood is like, will be talking with with teens at Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio about his book, Tafolla Toro and his experiences with mental health as a teenager. Gomez will share stories of his turbulent, traumatic, and often violent middle school years growing up in one of San Antonio’s most crime-riddled neighborhoods. He will also discuss the fear, anxiety, and hopelessness he felt as a teenager and how those forces shaped his life until he began taking steps to improve his mental health as an adult.
With the trauma so many of our youth have experienced over the past several months, mental health is a critical conversation to have right now.
The event will stream live on Facebook (@bgcsanantonio) on June 25, 2020 at 12:PM CT with Club teens attending live at the Mays Family Clubhouse and virtually at Clubs across the city of San Antonio.
