“A lot of people don’t understand what a military parent goes through when they have to be away from their kids. The birthdays we miss, Christmas dinners, father/daughter dances, sports events, family gatherings; the list goes on.

When you have to be on-base or stationed overseas, it’s impossible to always know what your child is up to or if they are safe. My kids started going to the Boys & Girls Clubs 8 years ago because it gave me piece of mind to know they were safe and involved in structured after school programs.

My greatest memory of my kids at the Club was the first time I got to see my son and daughter play on the same volleyball team. I’ll never forget how proud I was watching them work as a team, giving each other high fives. I still get teary-eyed and goosebumps thinking of that moment.”

Your donations to the Club allow military parents like Petty Officer First Class Augie Sanchez to enroll his kids in the Club for free. What you may not know is that Club kids with active duty parents and guardians get free membership to the Club.

But we can’t offer memberships to these military families that sacrifice so much without your donations.

There are only six hours left to make your year-end gift and help more military-connected kids get access to all of the benefits of their nearest San Antonio area Boys & Girls Club.
