Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio Member Receives Much-Needed Central AC System
Hardworking local mother and hospital employee receives improved quality of life
“God is so good—thank you so much,” said homeowner, Yolanda Davis. “It has been so hot that we all sleep together in my room. It has a window unit. Neither of the girls’ rooms has air conditioning. We have made a pallet so we can be together but it gets too hot to sleep. Thank you for helping.”
Boys and Girls Clubs of San Antonio has been working to ensure that club members continue receiving support at home while clubs operate at limited capacity due to Covid-19. Through partnering together with Shafer Serves, they were able to help the Davis family cope with San Antonio’s triple-digit summer while at home.
“This HVAC donation from Shafer Serves has changed the quality of life for the Davis family and strengthens the bond that our clubs, members, and community partners share,” said Angie Mock, CEO of Boys and Girls Clubs of San Antonio. “It’s when we come together to care for one another that we experience what community can really mean.”
The donation and installation of the HVAC system was made possible by Shafer Serves, a new philanthropic program from Shafer Services Plus that provides HVAC and plumbing products and services to San Antonio non-profits and those they serve.
“Safe home temperatures and reliable running water are critical for healthy environments — especially for children,” said Chase Anderson, President and CEO of Shafer Services Plus. “Improving lives by providing our services to local non-profits is what Shafer Serves in all about. It’s an honor for our team to be able to help our San Antonio family.”
