EASTSIDE BRANCH GETS BIG GIFT FROM TOYOTA

Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio Receives over $24,000 from
Toyota Financial Services, ADESA, Manheim, and Norwalk Auto Auctions

Donation to Support College Readiness Program for Teens

Tuesday, February 12, 2013 – San Antonio, TX – Toyota Financial Services (TFS) has partnered with three auto remarketing firms, ADESA (www.adesa.com), Manheim (www.manheim.com), and Norwalk Auto Auctions (www.norwalkautoauction.com), to provide a donation of $24,443 to Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio (BGCSA). This is part of a larger contribution of $464,425 from Toyota to Boys & Girls Clubs of America that will be divided equally among 19 local Boys & Girls Clubs currently running Diplomas to Degrees (d2D), the organization’s college readiness program.

Launched in partnership with Toyota, d2D provides tools, resources, and support to Club teens to help prepare them to move from high school to college graduation.

“Our partnership with Toyota allows us to continue combatting the high school dropout crisis locally and prepare our teens for successful futures in college,” said Angie Mock, BGCSA CEO. “But the support doesn’t stop there.  From Toyota associates volunteering to serve as mentors, we appreciate Toyota’s commitment to impacting the lives of our nation’s youth.”

The funding provided will support Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio continued commitment to supporting academic success for all Club members. This includes keeping education as a focus during the summer, offering the opportunity to take Club members on college campus tours, updating the Club’s technology center, and providing expanded learning experiences such as job-shadowing, career fairs, and targeted d2D sessions on test-prep and college transition.

For every vehicle purchased from Nov. 1-30, 2012, TFS pledged a $50 donation and the auction houses pledged an additional $15 to $25 per vehicle.  This marks the second consecutive year TFS and its auction partners have joined together to raise funds for Boys & Girls Clubs of America.  Last year, 17 Clubs shared donations totaling $302,620.

In an effort to maximize donations, Toyota Motor Manufacturing also stepped up with a donation of $2,000 and 10 laptops. The laptops will be used by the teens to do research for d2D, homework and school projects.
