EASTSIDE HOSTS 5K FOR GIRLS ON THE RUN
On Saturday, December 15, the Eastside Branch was happy to host the First Ever Girls on the Run 5K. District #2 Councilwoman Ivy Taylor kicked off the run and Dr. Mynka Misangy, Executive Director of Girls on the Run, congratulated the 104 girls for their efforts.
Boys & Girls Clubs three priority outcomes are Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character & Citizenship. Partnering with Girls on the Run tackles two out of the three. Girls from the Eastside Branch and other BGCSA after school sites participated in the program and the run. For many of them, it was the first time they participate in a race and run a 5K.
