What: In an effort to combat the learning loss youth experience when they do not engage in educational activities during the summer, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio is hosting the annual Akeelah and the Spelling Bee for its members.
Who: 50+ members, ages 6-18
When: Thursday, July 19, 2018 │6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Where: UTSA Downtown – Buena Vista Building – Aula Canaria Room
Details: Since the beginning of the summer, club members have been preparing for the 13th annual Akeelah and the Spelling Bee. Internal spelling bees are held at participating Club sites two weeks prior to the event with finalists from each age group competing in the citywide competition for the chance to win the coveted Akeelah and the Bee trophy.
