STARBUCKS RENEWS SUPPORT FOR TEEN PROGRAMS

Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio Selected to Receive
Starbucks Foundation Opportunity for Youth Grant

Funding will support Keystone Program, a character and leadership development for teens

San Antonio, TX – July 22, 2015 – Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio was selected as a Starbucks Foundation Opportunity for Youth Grant recipient toward its Keystone Program, which helps promote character and leadership among Club teens to provide impact in three focus areas: academic success, career preparation and community service.

“Starbuck’s support of our Keystone Program will provide incredible opportunities for our teen members to develop as leaders within their club,” says Angie Mock, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio CEO. “Thanks to Starbucks, our teens will be able to organize community service projects throughout the year including a Thanksgiving Dinner for our members and families.”

Nearly 6 million young people around the United States are neither in school nor employed and continue to face barriers to meaningful educational and job opportunities. These young men and women represent a huge, untapped opportunity for an infusion of productivity and creativity in the workforce. At the same time there are also challenges for employers to find qualified candidates.

The Starbucks Foundation believes in providing these young men and women with pathways to opportunity by investing in programs that equip them with the skills required for the changing global economy. The foundation is focusing on a comprehensive approach and collaborating with nonprofit organizations on proven, as well as innovative, solutions to help young people get the skills and training they need to succeed in a rapidly changing global economy.

Since 2008, Starbucks has awarded more than $8 million to a multitude of non-profit organizations that have engaged more than 120,000 young people in community activities. Additional details about Starbucks community initiatives are available at Starbucks.com/Responsibility/Community.
