Young Achievers is a nationally-recognized youth development program.
The program positions students to begin thinking about their future through its weekly workshops, college visits, career conversations, and other enrichment events. Mostly, it focuses on college planning as that is the path our targeted students are most interested in pursuing. More broadly, Young Achievers aims to build students’ self-esteem and promote positive mental health.
The entry point to the program is 8th grade. From there it maintains ongoing relationships with its participants through high school where they continue receiving individualized guidance and support as well as access to the BGCSA Scholarship.
Membership is done on a first-come, first-served basis at the Club of your choice. Summer registration opens in March. Please contact your local Clubhouse location to begin the process!
All registrants must complete a membership application and complete the registration fee of $100/per child.
Hardship scholarships are readily available; and all military youth or youth on Medicaid Amerigroup are free. Registration fees are capped at $300 per family.
Annually, our Young Achievers program impacts more than 120 8th grade students and 45 high school students outside of our traditional Clubhouse programming. Young Achievers participants learn how to pursue a college education, including a full understanding of the applications process and financial aid. Additionally, this program develops skills such as writing, public speaking, and critical thinking, with regular field trips to engage youth with universities and social activities with young professionals.
Students who are doing well academically are recommended by their counselors to our Director of Young Achievers, David Rockett. For more questions, please contact David at [email protected].
