Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio (BGCSA) empowers youth to build Great Futures through high-quality afterschool and summer programming in safe, affordable, and fun environments. BGCSA serves kids ages 6 to 18 years old at five Clubhouses year round and 12 Extended Day Programs (EDP) at school sites throughout the academic year. All BGCSA after school programs focus on academic success, character development and healthy lifestyles.
BGCSA offers a lot of different programs, but they can be easily broken into two different categories: Afterschool Programming and Summer Programming. All of our programming and curriculum revolves around our main pillars; academic success, healthy lifestyles, and character and leadership.
BGCSA offers a weekday Afterschool Program for kids all through the school year! Our Clubhouses are open weekdays, 3PM – 6:30PM, making it an easy choice for parents. The daily schedule begins with Power Hour™, an hour dedicated to homework help and completion.
Kids then rotate through age-appropriate activities! Kids will be able to enjoy gym and playground time, sports practices, reading or math tutoring, fine arts, and more! Our preteens and teenagers have more guided activities, such as college visits, career skills building, driving simulations, and leadership and community-service focused clubs.
BGCSA offers more support by offering transportation to Clubhouse locations. Snacks and/or meals are also provided to all kids before they head home.
Our Summer Program provides structured activities and a safe place, Monday – Friday, from 8:30AM – 5:30PM, during 6 weeks of summer break. Similar to our Afterschool Program, youth are engaged in age-appropriate activities focused on curbing the summer learning loss, building character, and forming healthy habits.
Additionally, kids get to attend Club-sponsored field trips to indoor swimming pools, local businesses, outdoor parks, and community attractions. Have no fear parents, kids won’t come home hungry! Healthy and balanced meals and snacks are provided throughout the day during summer programs.
BGCA offers local Clubs tested, proven and nationally recognized programs that closely align with the developmental needs of all young people. We aim to put our youth on the path to great futures!
Young Achievers is an award-winning, comprehensive college preparatory program that provides participants with a complete understanding of the college admissions and financial aid process before they enter high school.
Our Page Turners program provides small group learning sessions to 1st-3rd graders in need of extra assistance with their reading skills. This helps them to get on – and stay at – grade reading level.
CareerLaunch works with Club members aged 13-18 to assess their skills and interests for future careers. Students will explore careers, build their job search skills, and find internship, shadowing, and job opportunities.
DIY STEM is a hands-on, activity-based STEM program, connecting youth to science themes they encounter in everyday life. Partners such as Texas A&M AgriLife provide resources to our Clubs – like eggs and incubators to hatch chicks! – making DIY STEM extremely engaging.
Money Matters teaches teens how to set goals, budget, save, and invest, helping them develop necessary financial skills to succeed in life.
diplomas2Degrees (d2D) is a college readiness program that guides Club teens through high school graduation, helping them make plans for post-secondary education and career success.
Our Fine Arts Initiative gives Club members access to ballet, Children’s Chorus, and the National Fine Arts Program trademarked. Where students can hone skills related to arts and art education.
Our Alamo Trades Club partners youth (12-18) with professionals in the trades industries, such as plumbing, electrical, facilities maintenance, demolition, tiling, and more to explore career paths available immediately out of high school. As our Alamo Trades Club continues to grow, various field trips, hands-on activities, and trades-focused events and days will be offered.
Resiliency Restored is an early-intervention mental health program that provides skill-building opportunities, crisis response & resolution, group and/or individual counseling, and family-support services to combat the mental crises youth commonly face. Resiliency Restored is available to active Clubhouse members.
The Passport to Manhood program helps young boys aged 8-14 develop positive behavior patterns and navigate their way through adolescence. The program uses interactive discussions and activities to engage participants and encourage personal growth.
SMART Girls is a small-group program for youth aged 8-18 that combines education and hands-on activities designed to promote health, fitness, risk-prevention, and self-esteem.
All members of the club have access to our intramural sports leagues, including baseball, basketball, soccer, flag football, and volleyball. They also have access to our supervised pools during Club hours. We believe that team sports are positively associated with the development of leadership, teamwork, cooperation, dedication, and commitment, in addition to the promotion of living healthily.

The SMART Moves program helps kids aged 6-15 learn skills and strategies for dealing with challenging situations in their everyday lives. The program involves discussions and role-playing activities in small groups of kids of similar ages. SMART Moves helps youth build assertiveness, confidence, resiliency, and refusal skills. These skills have led to reduced potential engagement in substance abuse, sexual activity, and other risky behaviors.
Youth of the Year is a national leadership development program, beginning at local Clubs, that celebrates the lives of teen Club members who have overcome incredible odds to make a significant impact on their family, friends, and community. With one-on-one mentors, teens receive training in public speaking, essay writing, and team building all leading to the final competition and title of “Youth of the Year.”
Torch Club is a small-group character and leadership club for preteens (11-13) where they learn how to plan and implement service activities, health and fitness, and social recreation.
Keystone Club engages teenagers (14-18) in academic success, career preparation, and community service, through social and community-based activities and skills-development.
Our OJP Mentoring program pairs high-risk Club members with mentors, for one-on-one mentoring opportunities. This is designed to reduce risky behavior and promote academic success, healthy lifestyles, and the development of good character and leadership skills. Mentors work with their youth on homework, tutoring, sports and recreation activities, and more, serving as a positive role model for their mentee.
TEXSYN program pairs high-risk Club members with mentors, for one-on-one mentoring opportunities designed to reduce risky behavior. While also promoting academic success, healthy lifestyles, and the development of good character and leadership skills. Mentors work with their youth on homework, tutoring, sports and recreation activities, and more, serving as a positive role model for their mentee.

Our membership is done annually, per session, on a first-come, first-served basis at the Club of your choice. All registrants must complete a membership application and pay a registration fee. For teens, registration fees are $25/per child. Registration fees are capped at the cost of 3 members per family, regardless of number of registered youth.
