“I first learned about the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio a few years ago when my dad was showing me and my older sister places from his childhood. We were taking a drive around the city and he pointed out a local Club he used to attend.

The Clubs’ connection to my dad’s childhood was definitely one of the many reasons I was interested in volunteering. I have been volunteering since last spring, but I took a break over the summer and when I came back in August, I was nervous that the Club members would not remember me. I have to say I was surprised and relieved when one of the fourth graders I had helped with homework ran out of her classroom to greet me with a big hug. She remembered me and even called me ‘Ms. Kasi.’

These kids are so sweet. I didn’t grow up around a lot of younger kids and I think one of the most surprising things I’ve learned as a volunteer is that they say so many witty things.”

We are doing whatever it takes to build great futures and that starts the moment a kid walks through our doors after school. They receive guidance and support from trained, caring staff and volunteers like Kasi.

This month, we are asking you to do whatever it takes to support the vulnerable kids we serve in our community, because we can’t do it without you. Your donation can transform a child’s tomorrow. Please make your gift today.
